Here we propose a new, flexible inorganic geochemistry reporting schema available within the open access EarthBank platform, as a service to store, interpret, disseminate and explore geochemistry data. The application of this data structure, augmented by purpose-built data interrogation tools, is demonstrated using real-world case studies, including volcanic evolution and magma genesis, mineralisation prospectivity, and catchment provenance and contamination through stream sediment geochemistry.

Exploration of a Combined LIBS and LA-ICP-MS Approach for Apatite Characterisation
Geostandards and Geoanalytical Research
CD Quarles Jr, BT Manard, NA Zirakparvar, J Petrus, B Paul, D Douglas, A Gleadow, B Kohn, S Boone, L Chung, M McMillan, GK Ustinisik, and FM McCubbin
A combined laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) method is demonstrated for comprehensive apatite analysis. These measurements provide elemental imaging that can be used as a screening technique for chemical selection of grains for subsequent analysis (e.g., U-Pb geochronology) or can be used to understand elemental distributions within a single grain that would have direct textural-chemical implications (e.g., zoning patterns).

The Paleoproterozoic Warton and Wunaamin Miliwundi Sandstones in the Kimberley Basin of NW Australia contain an abundance of rock shelters hosting a striking succession of rock paintings of immense cultural and archaeological significance. The evolution of these shelters has not previously been studied in detail, yet provides the ultimate control on the long-term survival of rock art within them.

Unprecedented climatic, environmental, energy, and resource crises threaten our world due to a growing, unsustainable human footprint on our planet. But while Australia awaits national strategies to address climate change amidst the COVID-induced recession, deep staffing cuts and closures of tertiary geoscience programmes across the country compromise our collective ability to respond to these challenges.
